MIT Media Lab: MGH Depression Study

MGH Depression Study

Depressive disorders affect approximately 19 million American adults and has been identified by both the World Health Organization and the World Bank as the leading cause of disability in the United States and worldwide. This study, the first of its kind, intends to correlate basic physiology with depression state through the long-term continuous monitoring of clinically depressed patients undergoing electro-convulsive therapy. We intend to use non-invasive mobile physiologic sensing technology to classify depression state and track the effects of treatment over time. This project is a joint collaboration with the Massachusetts General Hospital.
